GRID-enabled remote Desktop solution for Linux

Hi,

we are developing rich graphics applications for medical imaging and simulation.

In this context we are looking for a (ideally open source) remote desktop solution for Linux that supports GRID. Currently we are using FreeNX+VirtualGL.

From the SDK FAQ I understand that I can stream GPU-accelerated applications using VNC or teamviewer. However, these tools do not use the hardware H.264 encoding. Is this correctß

If so, is there a remote desktop solution that makes use of the built in server-side H.264 encoder?

Thank you very much in advance.

How about VMware supporting Linux VDI with Nvidia GRID? Are there any plans?

Thank you.
