Jetson Orin NX 16GB (40W) and Orin Nano Super 8GB – correct module/carrier/enclosure for 4-camera DeepStream in India & Tanzania

We are building an edge vision system for retail counters and need to confirm the exact Jetson configuration before requesting quotes from suppliers. We will deploy pilot sites in India (Andhra Pradesh) and Tanzania (Dar es Salaam region).

Target use

  • Four 4MP H.265 cameras (ONVIF) running a DeepStream + TensorRT pipeline.

  • Continuous inference with evidence clip recording.

  • JetPack r36.x (latest stable) on production hardware.

  • Deployment in India and Tanzania; we need SKUs and warranty/support that are valid in both regions.

Hardware we plan to use

  1. Primary vision box (pilot & development)

    • NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB production module (up to 157 TOPS).

    • Power mode: 40W (continuous operation under load).

    • Carrier/enclosure: industrial, fanless or actively cooled, with 1TB NVMe.

    • Must support four simultaneous 4MP camera streams with hardware decode and no unacceptable thermal throttling.

    • Expected ambient temperature: up to ~40–45°C in some locations, with occasional power fluctuations.

  2. Secondary development / small-site evaluation

    • Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit 8GB (up to 67 TOPS).

    • Intended for compatibility testing and smaller sites, not as the baseline for the four-camera pilot.

Questions

  1. For Jetson Orin NX 16GB (P3767-0000 or equivalent):

    • Which carrier board(s) and enclosure/thermal solutions are officially recommended for continuous 40W operation with four 4MP H.265 streams?

    • Are there specific JetPack / Jetson Linux releases where the 40W mode for Orin NX is fully validated on production modules?

    • Are there any known limitations or caveats when using Orin NX 16GB in a fanless enclosure at 40W in warm ambient conditions (up to ~40–45°C)?

  2. For Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit 8GB:

    • Is this developer kit suitable only for development and small-site evaluation, or is it also acceptable for light production deployments (e.g., 1–2 cameras)?

    • Are there any recommended carrier/enclosure options for this kit if used in a production-like environment?

  3. Supplier and region guidance

    • Can you recommend authorised distributors or system integrators who can supply to India and Tanzania:

      • Jetson Orin NX 16GB production modules (or complete systems) with 40W-capable carrier and thermal solution, and

      • Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kits?

    • What details should we insist on in the quotation (module P/N, carrier P/N, JetPack version, thermal rating, warranty, region eligibility, etc.) to avoid grey-market or misconfigured hardware?

    • Are there any region-specific SKUs, certifications or restrictions we should be aware of for deployments in India and East Africa?

We want to ensure we order the correct module, carrier, cooling and software combination for a reliable four-camera DeepStream deployment in both countries. Any guidance on exact part numbers, reference designs, and suitable suppliers for India and Tanzania would be greatly appreciated.

We have completed the validation with internal carrier baord to confirm the 40W performace.
Customer need to design their carrier board or purchase the carrier board from other ecosystem partners.
Please use JetPack 7.2.1 as your development SW baseline to get 40W and better support for SW issue.
Regarding the fanless enclosure, that’s not what we can recommend, and need customer to run all validation by themselves.

No. Jetson developer kits are not for production use. The developer kit is used to develop and test software in a pre-production environment.

Please go through one of our local distributors there to purchase the Jetson devkits and modules:
