L40S VMware Linux Setup and Licensing

Hello there,

I looked up the forum but did not find specific answers to this:

have a Linux VM (Ubuntu Server 24.04) running on a ESXi host (HPE DL380 Gen11) with VMWare (V7.0) and pass through a L40S. I want to use it for AI inference.

  1. Do I need a vWS licence and vGPU driver? If not which driver should I use?
  2. What is the L40S default display mode and do I need to change it?

Hi,

you don’t need a vWS license you can use the default datacenter driver.
Keep the default display mode.
