Isaac Sim takes ages to load entirely and completely freezes the computer when loading.
Detailed Description
I got tired of using the default location for the the Isaac Sim assets (AWS) as it takes very long to fetch the thumbnails EACH TIME the Assets browser is opened.
I then switched to using LOCAL ASSETS to have a faster loading time, see setup guide.
However, it is still VERY LONG to get to the “Isaac Sim Full App is loaded” (more than 90s!). And during that time, the computer is completely frozen.
How is one supposed to use the local assets then? Because if it takes that much time, it is definitely not practicable (especially since the simulator crashes often and need to be restarted multiple times a day).
Any help or hint would be appreciated :)

I found out that the cache, despite being installed, is not detected at startup and needs to be reinstalled each time (weird). See screenshot below where the Cache indicates “Hub Not Detected”.
Is there a way to solve this cache problem?
To help us investigate this problem, could you please provide your complete log file? It will give us more information about what might be causing the issue.
Hi. There are different caches in Isaac Sim. It is normal to take more than 90s to for first time loading of Isaac Sim. This step is warming up the shader cache. You can run ./warmup.sh to warm up the shader cache before running the app.
Hub (used to be called Cache) can be installed in Isaac Sim at the top right corner or you can download it separately from NGC. This feature will cache any assets that is being used to a local disk. See Hub Workstation Cache — Omniverse Utilities .
Please try installing Hub separately from NGC or share the Isaac Sim log files if you have issues installing it via Isaac Sim.
Slow loading times like this are usually one of the following:
it is the first time in a while you have run it
you have just crashed and it needs to claw back the vram and system resources and recheck the code
you are running other software (please don’t)
your GPU or cpu is partially in use with something else (again, please don’t)
you have not flushed your texture cache in a while at c:/users/user/temp/appdata/ov/cache/texture. Please delete and flush entire folder.
you have a slow internet connection for checking extension updates
you are behind an aggressive firewall that is slowing your cpu checking the extension updates
you have an aggressive anti virus installed
a slow system in general. Slow SDD or CPU
It has nothing to do with installing any cache system. Hub or otherwise. I do not even recommend installing the cache systems. You do not need it. Kit has its own built in system.
Try this.
Restart the system fully
Do not start ANY other software. Not even a web browser.
start Isaac. Record the time
quit and restart. Record the time. It should be literally half the time. Around 20 seconds.
If not, repeat with your computer disconnected from the internet.
I saw these culprit messages. Could you figure out why the privacy.toml file doesn’t exist? Could you try if still have the long launch time after normally closing the applications for two times?

Sorry for the late anwser.
I was able to make the loading time faster (approx 20sec) and more importantly Isaac Sim does not freeze the computer anymore :). Same for the assets which are opening and loading much faster.
I have a ROG laptop with a RTX4080. When on battery power or charged via my USB-C docking station, the GPU max power is limited to 50W (as stated per nvidia-smi). However, when i charge my computer via its DC jack with the official power supply, the GPU is not constrained anymore and can reach 80W. This makes a huge difference in loading time. I also had to disable GPU switching in the BIOS for external monitor and everything looks fine now.
Ah yes. SUPER important that you never run a complex, highly intense RTX kit app, whilst on battery power. Always keep it plugged in. Battery power is for web surfing and email.
