Lose resolution with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti after upgrade to 580.105.08 on arch linux

Dear all,

Sorry to report that after upgrading to 580.105.08-3 resolution of monitor shrinked to 1920x1080/60 Hz .
Previously was 2560x1080

here’s a summary of my hardware:

  • Kernel version: Linux 6.17.8-arch1-1

  • Windowing system: X11

  • OS: Arch Linux 64-bit

  • Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

  • Monitor: LG29UM58-P

It’s seems impossible to increase resolution. Maybe a different driver should be used for this graphic card?

As requested, there is also nvidia-bug-report.log

Many thanks for the help!

Dear rrameshbabu,

Many thanks for your help.

According to Arch Linux Wiki nvidia-open shouldn’t be used for GeForce GTX 1050 Ti chipset. Despite that, I’ve installed the nvidia-open package and removed nvidia package using pacman, but seems that X cannot find my monitor at all.

What I’m doing wrong?

@avDuma nvidia-open cannot be used with the 1050. Unfortunately, you will either need to downgrade the driver or wait till our next release with the fix.

thank you @rrameshbabu . Do you have any clues about next release of nvidia driver?

Sorry, our driver release cadence is something we try not to share since we have had fluctuations in the past.

We just released 580.119.02 which contains the fix.
