NvFBC Capture SDK 9.0.0 — RTX A1000 eligibility and authorization

Hello NVIDIA Developer Support,

We are developing a GStreamer source plugin using NVIDIA Capture SDK 9.0.0 for GPU-resident X11 display capture and NVENC encoding on Linux.

Our primary target is an NVIDIA RTX A1000 (PCI ID 10de:25b0), running RHEL 9.2, native Xorg and NVIDIA driver 580.105.08.

We have isolated an initialization failure using a standalone application independent of GStreamer.

NvFBCCreateInstance() succeeds, and NVIDIA GLX initialization works correctly. However, NvFBCCreateHandle() returns NVFBC_ERR_UNSUPPORTED (7).

NVIDIA’s internal diagnostic logging reports:

ERROR: This hardware does not support NvFBC

We understand that NVIDIA Capture SDK has historically restricted NvFBC usage to certain professional GPU families.

We would appreciate clarification on the following:

  1. Is RTX A1000 officially eligible for NvFBC X11 desktop capture under Capture SDK 9.0.0?
  2. Is this restriction determined by the GPU model, driver version, kernel module variant, licensing or another factor?
  3. Is there a supported configuration or driver version that enables NvFBC on this GPU?
  4. If RTX A1000 is not normally eligible, is there an official authorization, developer agreement or licensing process through which we could obtain permission to use NvFBC?
  5. Does NVIDIA offer an authorized equivalent to the undocumented NvFBCCreateHandle.privateData mechanism used by some existing open-source applications?
  6. If special authorization is possible, may the resulting implementation be distributed as part of an open-source GStreamer plugin, including an optional build-time feature?

We are specifically interested in a documented and authorized implementation rather than patching NVIDIA driver binaries.

We can provide standalone diagnostic logs, system information and a minimal reproducer.

Thank you.

Same problem, solve by the NVIDIA patch to allow NVFBC

This card is a RTX not a GeForce ???
