NVIDIA card may not working properly, unable to change resolution

I have got this new laptop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB but I cant get the graphics card working properly. The current resolution is so small by default that it is hard to read the text under the icons, and it cant be adjusted under the Display.
Also on every boot the Driver Manager window pops up. This is the current driver installed from the Driver Manager:

patrick@patrick-PH4PG31:~$ inxi -Gx
Device-1: Intel vendor: Tongfang Hongkong Limited driver: N/A
bus ID: 00:02.0
Device-2: NVIDIA vendor: Tongfang Hongkong Limited driver: nvidia
v: 525.105.17 bus ID: 01:00.0
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: fbdev,nvidia
unloaded: modesetting,nouveau,vesa resolution: 2880x1800~91Hz
OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.2.6
direct render: Yes

I have tried various drivers but the result doesn’t change.

My OS is Linux Mint 20 Ulyana with all updates installed.
What can I do to change the resolution and get the NVIDIA to work properly?

thanks Patrick
