I recently purchased a Samsung Q90A 4K TV which is used both as a TV and a monitor for my computer, upgraded my Comcast equipment to being 4K capable and replaced the HDMI cables with certified 4K ones. Presently, I’m at 1920/1080 @ 60p and I can’t find any way to get my resolution to 4K.
I’ll take any ideas on how to change my resolution to 4K.
I do not see anything that says enable 4K UHD Color within the TV’s user guide. The only thing that I did see relating to UHD or 4K was under General > External Device Manager > Input Signal Plus where I can turn on/off the HDMI ports. This was already set to “ON” (actually it turns on/off an indicator light that I took as an “ON” signal when lit) to allow UHD/4K resolution for Q90A TV.
And of course the TV is still set to 1920/1080 @ 60p resolution.
Please check if all ports on this TV support hdmi 2.0+
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.
The TV only outputs an FHD edid so there must be either a switch in the menu or the port you’re using is only hdmi 1.4. Also, please try updating the TV’s firmware. If you can’t find anything, you’ll have to call samsung support.
I’ve contacted Samsung Support and there is no furthers update to my software/firmware. Also, we verified my settings are correct and I need to contact Comcast Support.
When I spoke to a person at Comcast and they are having Comcast ship out another Modem and Cable box to me. It will take approximately 3 days to arrive. After I get it installed I will contact you further with either my progress or demise.
Comcast had sent out a new modem that was supposed to upgrade my connection to 4K signals which my original modem was not capable of receiving/transmitting to my TV. They are sending out another modem and also a cable box to ensure that I do have 4K signals sent to my TV.
And NO, it is not a “plain hdmi connection from computer to TV”. I also need to have a certified HDMI cable that is capable of handling the 4K signal.
