Nvidia -gtt command doesn't work

The nvidia-smi -gtt=TEMP command doesn’t work. I’ve tried it on multiple GPUs and it gives me the same response everytime.

I’ve tried it on the NVIDIA A40 and NVIDIA GH200 GPU. I’ve also tried doing nvidia-smi --id=0 --gpu-target-temp=TEMP and that also gives me the same response.

So my question is; is this command outdated and not supported anymore? I did do some digging and found out that datacenter GPUs don’t support this and only certain older GeForce GPUs supported it.

Hi there!

Please try a more sensible temperature, 45 is likely too low.

As an example, on an RTX 4080 with newest driver I get this output:

nvidia-smi.exe -gtt 30
Invalid input. GPU Target Temperature should be in range 65 - 88 for GPU 00000000:01:00.0

Ok I tried it with multiple temperatures but it still gives me the same response. I’m using a nvidia a40 gpu with driver version 560.28.03

I’m having the same problem on Lenovo laptop. My thermal limit temp is only at 58 which crashes my gpu all the time but i can’t change it
