Only 3 Gpu's can be used K1

Hai people,

I have a problem at a customer. I installed a nVidia Grid k1 card on Xenserver 6.5.
When i do a nvidia-smi i get this back:

[root@DSMXEN001 bin]# nvidia-smi

Here you see the 4 GPU’s but when i look in XenCenter under GPU i only see 3 gpu’s.
i want to give the 8 VDI that are running on te server each a K160Q and that should work (8 x 2 per gpu). But now i Can’t i only see 3 gpu’s and i have to give every one a K140Q.

Does anybody else had this problem. Is there a possiblity that 1 GPU is broken? Or something else ??

Has anybody any idea ??

I Dont seem to be getting any response around here either DTNComputers,
However im not sure if its just a coincidence or what, but I have a K1 in a standalone 2k12 box, and it only shows 3 GPU’s as well…

No idea why.

We found the solution, there was a wrong setting in the BIOS of the HP Gen8.
The setting is: Advanced Options | Video Options = Embedded Video Primary Optional Video Secondary. And not : Embedded video Secundary Optional Primary. So we fixed that and now we have 4 GPU’s.

Community to the rescue.

As to slow responses, there’s only a handful of us from the GRID team on here, and we drop in and answer when we can, we don’t have a full time community manager yet, so I"m afraid we’re here on a best efforts as and when we can.

Well, I am ;)

What Jason said! I am trying to set aside to every week to monitor. Hopefully it will improve responses.

For anyone else seeing this issue - it is likely that the hypervisor has grabbed on of the K1 gpus as the primary for dom0… links to debug if this is the case and info that bios needs to be configured is here: http://xenserver.org/partners/developing-products-for-xenserver/19-dev-help/125-xs-dev-gpu.html
