XenServer 6.5 Xendestop 7.6 VM not possible to install Driver in Win7 VM

Hi ,

we have a Xen Server Pool (Xen Server 6.5) with 3 Xen-Servers , two Xen-Servers have a K1 Gridcard inside.

I installed the binaries on both Xen-Servers.
lsmod | grep nvidia shows:
nvidia 10548578 26

nvidia-smi shows:

First of all i wonder, why the Output from lsmod shows not the additional line (documented in Adminstrationsguide):
i2c_core 20294 2 nvidia,i2c_i801
!!??

I can see the GPUs in my XenCenter and associated to Virtual Machines, but unfortunately i did not see the graphiccard in Device Manager and so Driverinstallation failed , because did not found Hardware .

Any help are much appreciated.
Kind regards
Marco

Hi,

I don’t see it either but works flawlessly (Ivy Bridge Server). From what I heard this module is now build into the kernel of XS65.

Regards,
Ron.

We just got this working. This what we did.

  1. Loaded the NVidia 6.5 server driver on the server. You look good on that.
You should see the GPU tab on XC for the server.
  2. On the vm, load the NVidia 6.5 workstation driver.
  3. Run the VDAWorkstationSetup and select the HDX 3D option.
Note: if you loaded it before without this option, you will need to
run the setup and delete the prior installation.

It really works, on a vm without the GPU the cpu’s are pegged. On the vm with the GPU the cpu’s are about 20-30%.

Clarification: you need to use the NVidia workstation driver for XS 6.5.
