Orin Nano 8GB that randomly hangs/freezes

Got a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB unit that will randomly hang/freeze. Sometimes when under load, sometimes when idling. Can be using it for 2 hours or 5 mins so very up and down.

It’s really not like my Logitech keyboard when connected via USB. Causes almost insta-freeze after about 15 seconds-30 seconds

Currently tried:

  • Re-seating unit
  • Re-flashed it with 5.1.2
  • Changed power supply

Currently waiting for TTL > USB cable to show up so can see what the logs are doing when the device crashes and feels like it may be up for RMA but any ideas what to check/fixes?

Hi,

Need to wait for usb ttl cable for next check. Nothing else is precise in this stage.

Hi,

So crash log from the TTL link:

Jetson_Crash_log.txt (121.0 KB)

Was fine for a while (thought it wasn’t going to do it at first, so was was just running some cuda example files.) Clicked to resize the window and at that point it froze.

It flagged this as as it froze:

[ 5239.813262] nvgpu: 17000000.ga10b nvgpu_channel_recover_from_wdt:107 [ERR] Job on channel 509 timed out

Everything after is crash related.

Any insight?

I notice your system keeps giving this to log. Could you disable the wifi and test again? Just want to prevent some noises here.

BUG: scheduling while atomic: irq/290-iwlwifi/351/0xfffffbff

I think you might be on to something with the WIFI… Ran about an hour of stress testing this morning with a mix of CPU and GPU and I can’t get the damn thing to dump with the WIFI disabled.

I guess that is my problem. :) Thanks for helping

Could you share the wifi card model ID here so that we can see if any potential risk on such card?

No real marking on the card other than its an “Intel Model : 8265ngw” so guessing its a intel dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 or something along those lines. Just the standard one that comes with the Seed Studio Dev Kit J3011.

The jetsons reporting as:
0001:01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)

Not sure if that helps, can link a picture if that is any use?

I have one from my old Xavier NX Jetson Nvidia Dev kit also I’m going to try and see if it stays stable with that, I know that one is fine.

Swapped to the known good known wifi module. Get insta-crash when connecting to Bluetooth with my keyboard, log attached:

Jetson_Crash_log_bluetooth_crash.txt (131.7 KB)

Hi,

It could be separate issue. Please file new topic and directly indicate your issue is related to bluetooth. Also, what kind of card is in use there.

Also, before you share any log… read it first to make sure it is complete…
For example, each line from the recent log got truncated…
