Problem with CAN device in jetpack6

Hello Guys,
Recently I have purchased Jetson Orin Nano developer kit and I had upgraded it to jetpack 6 but there is a issue in that. with out connecting any CAN devices it is showing like the CAN is connected and when I try to connect the external CAN also it is not showing. Can you please solve this issue as soon as possible because need to get it done with in a day.

when connecting some PCAN it is also not listing but the connected devices are showing in using lsusb command

Are you using Jetpack 6.0 or 6.1 on Orin Nano devkit?

What CAN device are you using?
PCAN is a USB device for Orin Nano.

It seems that can0 is from internal mttcan. (on J17 - Optional CAN Bus Header).
If you are connecting PCAN-USB device on the devkit, please check with can1.

Hello KevinFFF, currently using jetpack 6.0 and the problem is after connecting the PCAN-USB also can’t able to view it using IP link show command. Only Can0 is showing of we connect other can devices it is not showing.

How do you configure PCAN-USB?
Have you loaded PCAN driver manually?
Please share the full dmesg for further check.

There is no need to install the drivers for that because I have two Nano developer kit with me one with jetpack5 and another with jetpack6. there is no problem with jetpack5 because if I connect pcan in that it is working and I can able to transfer the CAN data in that but with jetpack 6 I can’t able to configure the pcan in that due to the mttcan. In jetpack5 if I perform “ip link show” command there is no CAN devices until I connect it manually but in jetpack6 by default it is showing the CAN device is connected and that is mttcan. So can you please help me how to downgrade it from jetpack6 to jetpack5.

@ravikumar.r1 Nvidia has removed can2usb drivers from the kernel in JP6 (go figure). We had to rebuild the kernel with the correct drivers enabled for it work.

Could you please provide me the drivers because I tried of installing the pcan drivers then also it is not working and I have a one more doubt is the problem is solved in the jetpack6.1

It is caused from mttcan driver is probed automatically in JP6.

In your case, PCAN-USB should be enumerated as can1.
Can you share the result of ip link show when you are using JP6 and connecting the PCAN-USB?

I can’t find any PCAN related messages in your dmesg.
Have you run the following command to load the driver for PCAN-USB?

Hello @KevinFFF, I have Downloaded the drivers from the PEAKCAN site and installed it
peak-linux-driver-8.18.0.tar.gz (4.5 MB)

Since we don’t have this module to verify it locally.
Could you also verify with the latest JP6.1?
Or JP5.1.4(the latest release of JP5).

Is there any log in dmesg when you probe the PCAN driver?
