Problem with kernel module signing while installing CUDA 8 on ubuntu 16

Hi There,

I’ve just got a new laptop with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 installed with Ubuntu 16.04 and I’m having trouble installing a CUDA development environment on it.

I’m using a run-file installation and I’ve been following the installation instructions at:

I’ve completed all the pre-installation checks okay but the installer keeps failing, saying it’s unable to locate the kernel source. Looking into the log files though it seems that the problem is either being caused by the Nouveau driver still being loaded or the compiled nvidia driver not being signed. Both errors are mentioned in the logs. I’ve added the ‘/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf’ file and rebooted as per the instructions but apparently this doesn’t always work.

Does anyone have any idea how I get this fixed?
