problem with vista 64-bit

i just got an hp pavilion dv6700 with a 8400M GS
downloaded the cuda stuff for vista 64 bit and got the following error:

“nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.”

anybody have any suggestions.

thanks

ok, got it to work. followed instructions on www.laptopvideo2go.com

but i don’t understand why the web page that allows you to download the cuda drivers and sdk doesn’t just give you this info instead of making you waste your time?

Dear mstockman!
I 've the same problem on my DELL Vostro 1500 + VISTA 64. Could please, please tell my or email to gamal.sallam@iy.com.ye detailed instruction how you didit.

thankx in advance

i went back and tried to figure out what i did again and it took time again. it’s really not spelled out very well.

I installed the 177.35 driver (there are more recent ones but not sure if they work)

  1. go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp64/177.35

  2. click on the ‘driver’ link and download the driver to your desktop

  3. click on the ‘Modded inf’ link and download it to your desktop - you probably need to copy/paste it into a wordpad file and save it in ‘text’ mode. You’ll need to change the file name afterwards.

  4. open http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index…showtopic=11997 in a window and following the instructions under ‘walkthrough’ (you’ve already done a

couple of the steps above so just continue on’)

let me know if this works or if you need more instructions

regards,

mel

Thanx mstockman!
I already found a matching Vista64 driver at dell website for another machine/video card (Precsion M4300/Quadro FX 360M and worked fine. (i dunno how). But thankx anyway for your fast reply.
