I’ve written a bash script to automatically suspend my Nano 2GB (via the echo freeze > /sys/power/state method) since deep sleep isn’t enabled. After almost exactly a minute of idling, a reboot is automatically triggered without first waking up. This happens whether I suspend via my script or manually with the script disabled. The weirdest part is that if I wake the system before the minute mark it’ll still reboot around a minute after I suspended. Any ideas what might be causing this? or how to capture a log during idle before the reboot?
edit: running Jetpack 4.6
hello user56846,
you could setup the serial console to gather the serial logs, it’ll capture bootloader and kernel messages.
had you have peripheral devices connected? it might be the connected device sending wake-up events.
Tried to remove all peripherals, switched the power supply, did a fresh re-install, modified my script to de-activate the network manager while suspended, nothing worked. I’m guessing it has to be something about the board itself, the problem isn’t that it’s being woken up but that it’s automatically rebooting after it suspends. I don’t have a serial console unfortunately but here’s my syslog from a full suspend/reboot cycle:

etc, the reboot happens at 22:09:53 exactly 1m10s after the initial suspend. Seems strange to me that “Freezing remaining freezable tasks” and “Suspending system (freeze)” only occur at the 22:09:34 mark, seemingly when the system was being woken up, while the initial freeze was at 22:08:43-46.
hello user56846,
may I know what’s the platform’s environment? do you have thermal solutions?
please refer to Thermal Specifications, if you keep increasing the thermal, it’ll trigger SW throttling to reduce clock rates, finally the HW throttling to force shutdown the board in order to protect the chip.
Hello Mr. Chang, the platform is Jetpack 4.6/Jetson Nano 2gb/Ubuntu 18.04. I have the stock heatsink but I’m not going above 70 C at full load, and this is only happening when completely idle during suspend so I don’t think it’s related, though I did overclock to 2ghz as you can see. that message also happens like 10-15 seconds before the board actually reboots
edit: or did you mean physical environment? in any case it’s not overheating
please also have tegrastats Utility executed to gather the reported statistics.
sample of tegrastats just before a reboot:

I checked the log as well and the “soctherm thermtrip” was still there at these temperatures
There is no update from you for a period, assuming this is not an issue any more.
Hence we are closing this topic. If need further support, please open a new one.
Thanks
hello user56846,
it’s weird, could you please setup a terminal and running $ dmesg --follow
to keep capture the logs.
BTW, what’s the power-supply you’re using?
