Good afternoon, I am new to using Omniverse and specifically USD Composer, so I apologize if my question is naive. I would like to know if from USD Composer I can render my scene and save the render as an image file. I have searched in tutorials, on the Internet and in the program for how to do it and I really can’t find it. I apologize if this is not the place to post this topic and please excuse my ignorance.
Thank you very much.
Welcome to the forum. Your question is a perfect question when learning Omniverse. No bad questions here. I appoliize if the answer to this is not easy to find.
There are two ways you can render:
- You can simply hit F10 on the keyboard and it will do an instance screenshot of the application to disk, as a PNG file. If you go to Prefences > Screen Shot you can see some options for the saved location to disk and also the option to capture the entire application, with viewport and UI, or just the viewport. Normally you would want to set up your own path and turn the option off, so you just capture the viewport. REMEMBER, if you capture viewport only it will capture to the resolution set in the viewport options, and not just a simple monitor screenshot. So for example, if you have set it to UHD / 4K and you hit F10 you will get that resolution for the screen capture.
- The other more powerful way to render out, is to use the Movie Capture extension. Not a great name, because it works just as well for single frames. Enable that in the Window Menu and you will see you can set your rendering preferences, resolution, renderer, file type etc. You can render a single frame or a whole animation to disk. Even save it as jpg, png or an mp4.
