Support request for Humanoid Robotics Team at UC San Diego

Hello NVIDIA community,

I am reaching out on behalf of Triton Droids, the student-run Humanoid Robotics Team at the University of California, San Diego. We have around 70 members who design, build, and program autonomous humanoid robots. Our vision systems and AI pipelines rely heavily on the NVIDIA Jetson family; we have only used Jetson Orin modules to power our robots.

As we expand our capabilities, we plan to compete in RoboCup 2027. Each of our robots will need high-performance onboard compute for real-time vision and control. Boards like the Jetson Thor or AGX would provide the compute power we need, but they are currently beyond our budget.

Could you please let us know if there are sponsorship or grant programs, or in-kind hardware support that student robotics teams can apply for? We would greatly appreciate any guidance or contact information to help us engage with the appropriate teams.

Thank you for your time and support,

Triton Droids Robotics Team, UC San Diego

Thanks for your interest in building with NVIDIA Jetson. Sponsorship requests aren’t handled directly through the forum, but you may want to explore the NVIDIA Academic Grant Program for Researchers, which is one avenue where teams and researchers can apply for hardware support:

We’re excited to see what you build with Jetson and encourage you to continue sharing your work with the developer community.
