Technical Sponsorship Request for AI-Powered Systems in Formula Student EVs

Hello NVIDIA Team,

We are a student team from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, a university that recently signed an MoU with NVIDIA to foster academic-industry collaboration in AI innovation.

Our team, Team Fateh, has been an active participant in the Formula Student community for over 15 years, building and competing with combustion vehicles across national and international platforms.
Some of our key achievements in the CV category include:

  • Top 5 overall placement at Formula SAE Italy 2023, proudly representing India among global teams
  • Consistent podium finishes at Formula Bharat
  • Multiple accolades across Design, Endurance, and Static events at Formula Bharat and SUPRA SAE India, establishing us as one of the country’s most resilient and performance-driven teams

In 2025, we took a major leap by transitioning to electric mobility. We debuted our first electric vehicle at Formula Bharat 2025 and are currently preparing for SUPRA SAE 2025, which marks the start of our second electric season.

Looking ahead, our team is now laying the technical and simulation groundwork for entering the Driverless Vehicle (DV) category, with a goal to make meaningful progress by the 2027 season.

To enable this, we are planning a simulation-first, AI-powered development pipeline, built around:

  • Jetson-powered Edge AI for live telemetry analytics, driver feedback, and anomaly detection
  • DV simulation and testing environment using Isaac Sim, ROS2, and Gazebo
  • Integration of real-world sensor data into virtual validation loops
  • Long-term goal of creating a hybrid digital-physical test bench for control systems

We are seeking NVIDIA’s support in the form of:

  • Access to Jetson developer kits (e.g. Orin Nano, Xavier NX)
  • Technical collaboration or mentoring opportunities
  • Consideration for inclusion in NVIDIA’s Formula Student support initiatives

We would be deeply grateful for your support and guidance as we push the boundaries of student-led innovation at the intersection of AI and motorsport engineering. We’re happy to provide further documentation, development roadmaps, and system architecture, if required.
