In case you don’t know. You didn’t provide any helpful info because kernel log is in silent mode.

Also, try to use block for your log so that others can read it more easier… really try to check your own format after sending out a comment please…

this is block

so could you please tell me how to get the kernel log ? May I ask where the official instructions are? thank you.

You can just run dmesg command in your console. There is no official instructions. It is just linux command.

I will also suggest that you remove the word “quiet” from the “/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf” file anywhere you find it (but it will be in the “APPEND” key/value pair).

Hi, thanks. but my jetson nano was hang when it just entered the desktop. i cannot get kernel log by dmesg command. As you can see in the video, i could not do anything when entered the desktop.

Thinks, I acted on your advice. But, I still don’t have any more information from the serial port.

Is there an underlying hardware problem causing this crash, Is there any official document about checking hardware.Thinks

Sorry. Just ignore my previous comment.

Please just answer the first question here.
Are you able to interact with your board by using the serial console or not?

Sorry, I am not good at English. Thank you for any advice you give me. I relly removed “quiet” on officia baseboard B01, because Nano works normally on B01. On a baseboard of my own design, I got the above information through the serial port, but I haven’t tried to send instructions to the nano through the serial port.

I’m using a ‘Windows’ computer to communicate serially with the nano. I can also try to use an ‘ubuntu’ computer and a ‘Minicom’ program to establish serial communication with the nano.

.

Hi,

Thanks, I’m really just a beginner… I’ll try it as you say

Some basic information: Serial console has very few requirements for it to work. Other than the very simple serial UART, all of the drivers for video and keyboard exist on the host PC instead of the Jetson. That means video and USB can crash and burn and serial UARTs will continue working. In fact a very large part of the kernel can be destroyed and the serial console will continue to work. Much bootloader software is able to interact with the serial console due to this very minimal driver requirement. This means boot software would not need a video or USB driver to function with a serial console. This is one of the best (and least expensive) debug tools you can have.

I did notice an i2c error. Since this is a custom board, then you might mention if your device tree adjusted for any i2c changes. Any change in layout relative to the dev kit carrier board implies parts of the carrier board will not be found correctly if the device tree does not inform the software about those changes (and i2c is a candidate for that).

I’m extremely grateful to you and @WayneWWW. I’m just a beginner and student interested in jetson. I learned a lot with your help. Following your suggestions, I obtained the following information. As you said, I added a chip to split the HDMI signal in two, probably that’s why HDMI doesn’t work…just dp worked.I think I’ll also learn about the device tree to get to the next step. Thank you again for your help.
dmesg.txt (64.8 KB)

Thanks, Changed log to .txt file.

再提醒一下. 你的dmesg.txt每一行都被截掉了…

Note that serial console logs will show up even in boot stages. dmesg only shows up once the Linux kernel is loaded. Serial console programs run from a host PC can also log an entire session. If you have serial console running, and the logging started prior to booting, then all you have to do is boot, and then save the serial console as a log. No lines cut off, no need to copy and paste, no need to transfer the log from the Jetson to another computer (it’s already on the host PC).

minicom_nano_log022002.txt (129.3 KB)
Hello, thank you for your help. I just boot and save the serial console as a log.

I found this issue, thanks!
