Ubuntu 16.04.4 - Login Loop after suceeded 384.99-Run-File-Installation

Hi there,

My problem:
After Installation of the Nvidia-Driver I stuck at the Login-Screen (Login-Loop). What am I missing?

My environment:
OS: Ubuntu 16.04.4
Kernel: 4.8.0-36-generic (Downgraded from 4.13.0… because of errors in 384.99-Run-File-Installation)
Card: NVIDIA Tesla M60
Driver: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-384.99 (Run-File)


  1. nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf
blacklist nouveau
       options nouveau modeset=0
  1. sudo update-initramfs -u
  2. sudo reboot
  3. service lightdm stop
