Is there any new update on when Xcode 11 will be supported in the Community Edition? Last I noticed it would be early this year. Thanks
Hi witherspoon,
Sorry about this, but things changed since the last time I posted about Xcode 11 back in October. It was decided that PGI 19.10 would be the last release supporting MacOSX. There will be no additional releases on Mac so no support for Xcode 11.

Very sorry to hear this, but thanks for your quick reply. Will PGI 19.10 continue to be available for macOSX? Cheers
The Community Edition license is for a year (so will expire in Nov 2020), though if you have a Professional License, then the license is perpetual.
So does that mean my existing Mac version of Community Edition 19.10 will stop functioning sometime in Nov 2020? I won’t be able to use it after that date?
My understanding is that the Community Edition was the only PGI compiler that runs natively on the Mac, which is a lot more convenient (for me anyway) than running a compiler inside a linux VM. Is there any future for native PGI compilers on Macs?
By the way, I do have a paid version of pgf77 from 2011 still running on an old linux box, but I would really like to retire that box someday due to its age and consolidate everything on my Mac.
Thanks

The license will expire at that point. The compiler may still work after that point, but you’ll get a message asking you to update the license.

No, there’s no difference between the Community and Professional Edition’s compilers. The main differences, besides one’s free and the other paid, is that Professional has added email support, includes intermediate and archived releases, and is a perpetual license. Community Edition only includes support via the PGI User Forums, no access to intermediary or archived release, and the license is only available for a year. The differences are outlined at: https://www.pgroup.com/products/feature-compare.htm

I don’t want to say that we’ll never bring back support for Macs, but at least for the foreseeable future, no.

Is your subscription still up to date? If so, you can contact PGI Sales (sales@pgroup.com) and see about converting to a Mac license. Not sure what it entails, but they’ll have better information than I can provide. Though while this would allow you to continue using 19.10 with Xcode 10, it wont solve the issue Xcode 11 support.

Yes, it was a perpetual license. I will check with them on that and see what happens. I can actually live without Xcode11, so that is not a problem. Thanks for your help!
