Xorg server 1.20.1-1 (Arch Linux) fails to start with GeForce GT 710

I have the exact steps to reproduce this.

  1. Install Arch Linux fresh with zen gui installer: default kernel, openbox, no additional programs.
  2. Reboot into the installed system, no issues (nouveau drivers are used by default.)
  3. Pacman -Syuu nvidia
  4. Reboot
  5. X doesn’t start, I’ve attached the output below.

This seems to happen every time with this Ryzen/Nvidia setup, and I know it’s not hardware related as windows and open source drivers function fine. Running with nomodeset doesn’t help at all either.

There’s no sign of any nvidia kernel module being installed. Please properly install the driver.
