After updating to release 202.1.0, I noticed that the smoothing group was not exported properly and resulting in the exported USD to look faceted . I have not encountered such issue when using the older connector 202.0.0. Thank you.

Exported USD in omniverse
@DavidDPD We are sorry to hear about this issue you are experiencing.
Could you please provide the following information:
- What version of 3ds Max you are using?
- Details on the Export settings you are using?
- Connector log file from the export process? (often found C:\Users%USERNAME%.nvidia-omniverse\logs\connect-sdk\
- Can you provide a simple file that replicates the issue?
An alternate solution may be using the 3ds Max native USD export support. Have you tried using the Autodesk 3ds Max USD plug-in?
Hi @kecollins ,
Currently I have just switch back to the previous version of connect and its exporting as intended.
My 3dsmax version is 2023.
My export setting.
My log file
3dsmax-connector_20241113_104208.log (152.2 KB)
3dsmax file
Spineless_Yucca.zip (10.4 MB)
Never tried using 3ds Max native as i have heard previously it clashes with omniverse connector. Thank you.
I am glad to hear switching back to the older connector works fine. However, we will of course investigate the new version for this issue. However, as mentioned, please try to use the Native USD support in 3dsmax, which should be vastly improved. You said you are using 2023. If you can upgrade to 3dsmax 2024, or even 2025, I know there is even more native usd support.
Just to test it out, I took that asset and exported it as a basic fbx in 2025 and it looks great.
And here is the same file exported as NATIVE usd from 3dsmax 2025, using the Autodesk 0.9 usd plugin. You should update your 3dsmax 2023 to 0.9 usd support.
