I connected to the OM server on 3DMAX, but failed to upload the PSD file. There is no model in the opened file. How can I solve this problem?I’m using the Enterprise Edition
Thanks for posting. Ok let’s try to break this down.
- By OM server, you mean the Omniverse Nucleus localhost server? Or Launcher?
- You are using Autodesk 3DSMax correct? What version? You are trying to use our Omniverse connector with it? Our latest connector only works up to 3dmsax 2024. You can start using the native Autodesk USD converter in 3dsmax 2024 and 2025 now. You do not need our connectors.
- PSD file? Photoshop? Or do you mean USD file? We don’t do anything with photoshop files
- “There is no model in the opened file” - where? You are trying to open the usd file converted from 3dsmax in USD Composer and it is blank / empty?
- You are using the “Enterprise” Edition? There is no enterprise or non-enterprise edition. It is all one version for everyone. You mean you have Enterprise Support? Can you contact your enterprise support person? If you want to have me help you connect with them, you can private message me.
I used Launcher, 3DMAX is version 2023, it may be a version problem, the USD file was entered incorrectly. Sorry, then I opened the file in 3DMAX and Composer and there was no model.
Ok let me make some general suggestions. There are two ways you can go here. Work with the old Method or go with the new Method.
Old Method
- Use Launcher
- Install USD Composer 2023.2.5
- Install the Omniverse Connector for 3dsmax 2023/2024
- Export your 3dsmax model to usd using the “export” button on the toolbar.
- Open the usd file in USD Composer 2023.2.5
New Method - Not connectors or Launcher required
- Go to GitHub - NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-app-template: Omniverse Kit App Template
- Download the latest version of USD Composer template for 106.4
- Follow the instructions to build it and run it
- Now download the new Autodesk OpenUSD plugin for 3ds Max also from GitHub at GitHub - Autodesk/3dsmax-usd: OpenUSD plugin for 3ds Max
- Export your model using their Autodesk native usd exporter
- Open that in USD Composer 106.4
Hi @Richard3D ,
Regarding the new method where the USD Composer is build from GitHub, can I know if that version of the USD Composer is able to connect/access to existing nucleus server be it localhost or another LAN physical address ?
Yes that new version works just fine with all existing Nucleus versions.
