We have inherited a ConnectX-3 VPI based IB network using 2 SX6036 managed and 4 SX6025 unmanaged switches in a two-level Fat Tree or CBB network. We are using Network Direct (RDMA) in our Windows cluster, with 56Gb connectivity.
Do these switches / network configuration work in Ethernet mode, as well, by simply changing the NICs from IB to ETH mode? – see below for why we might want to.
We have a ConnectX-4LX EN dual SFP28 port NIC on a Windows 11 Pro client. Is there any way to tie this into our network – are there QSFP to SFP28 adapters? If we install a ConnectX-3 VPI card, could this system be configured to bridge between 56Gb IB and 25Gb Ethernet?
We also have a Synology NAS with ConnectX-4LX EN NIC we’d like to tie in and hopefully be accessible by all cluster nodes.
Our (Windows) File Server has dual IB ports. How do we connect and configure the ports to the Fat Tree for best performance?
The SM is currently running on an old Linux host. How do we migrate the SM to the switch, assuming this would simplify network management and not hinder performance.
