After applying the PREEMPT_RT patch and building, the system does not boot up properly

Hi

After I applied preempt_rt patch along the guide, I built it on yocto.
Linux version is 4.9.253 ( I checked it in linux-tegra_4.9.bb)
The kernel source patch git branch for yocto build is oe4t-patches-l4t-r32.6.
But It does not boot normally after flashing on my xavier agx.
I followed the steps like this.

  1. bitbake linux-tegra
  2. cd tmp/work-shared/jetson-agx-xavier-devkit/kernel-source/scripts
  3. rt-patch.sh apply-patches
  4. move to build directory
  5. bitbake -c menuconfig linux-tegra
  6. change Preemption Model into Fully Preemptible Kernel (RT) and save
  7. bitbake linux-tegra

Hi, do you mean you cannot login even with serial port? Is the screen showing anything?
You may try the latest JetPack 5.1.1 release (not sure if it’s already available on Yocto though) and follow steps shared by our user to see if it works.

Now, it boot normally.
When power down and up, it shows login screen now.
But I don’t understand why it works well.
I just changed the usb cable for serial to another port during booting .

I did not do anything for this.
