Brand new Jetson Orin Nano Devkit displayport no signal

Here is what I have tried:

  • write the Image to a microSD card on Windows machine, plugged in, connected DP to a monitor, keyboard. Monitor has no signal
  • write the Image to a microSD card on Linux machine, plugged in, connected DP to a monitor, keyboard. Monitor has no signal
  • swap a different monitor, a different DP cable, still has no signal
  • install SDKManager, try to flash through SDKManager, failed to flash.
  • try to reflash the firmware, monitor has no signal, no splash screen.

This is a brand new Jetson Orin Nano 8GM Devkit. Power up LED is static green, fan spins normally.

Is there anything else I can try? Or I should get a replacement from the vendor?

Please help.

Thank you!

Try to check the log instead of relying on the monitor. This log will tell what is going on.

Reading below website to learn how to dump log.

I don’t have the magic wire, so Debug console thing is far fetch for me. Moreover, even if the log shows something, what can I do to get the displayport work? Is there a way to flash the firmware through the SDKManager?

It is not about what you can do. It is about I can help check the log and see why the monitor does not work…

If I connect a USB port to my desktop, I should be able to see the usb by lsusb, right? Currently, I see no usb device.

I would suggest you could just get that cable and dump log… it is still helpful if you want to use Jetson… This is basically the most reliable way to access the board and check the status of the board.

If you don’t use serial console to check, all what you are doing is just “guess”. “I cannot see usb in lsusb, so I guess the board is xxx”. “I cannot see anything on monitor, so I guess the board is xxx”. All these are just guess… no one can really tell what is going on with such state.

Also, I feel you didn’t know how to put the board into recovery mode, did you…?

You have to manually put the device into recovery mode so that sdkmanager can start the flash…

SDKManager user guide doesn’t mention recovery mode. Would it matter though if the usb device is not discovered by the host?

“Recovery mode” is the mode that will let your host see Jetson in lsusb.

My Orin Nano board has no power button. I see there are posts say I need jumper cap to short to pins. I can’t find one at the moment.

I don’t have much confidence in NVidia’s QC now. This board should work out of the box. If there is this many hurdles and troubleshooting, I wouldn’t have paid $250. Such a bummer.

Recovery mode is a basic operation for this board. Not kind of troubleshooting thing.

If you want to flash the board, then you have to put the board into recovery mode.
