Major Features

Omniverse Live 2.0

Starting with a dramatically improved user experience, we have crafted an effective one button create/join system which works similarly throughout Create and its various connectors. Also improved is the entire process of managing the non-destructive workflow. Whether you’re working on your own or collaborating with others, there’s no longer a need to manage complicated USD layers in order to gain the benefits of a non-destructive workflow. Simply open a file, host a session and anyone with access to the file can join. At that point, everything becomes auto-magic. You just get to work live, non-destructively, with connected apps and colleagues. Even merging in final approved changes are now just a click away. Whether you’re working with friends or with connected Apps, Live Mode offers a powerful set of collaborative, non-destructive, features opening doors to workflows never imagined. We simply can’t wait to see how you put this technology to use.

Please view the detailed post on Omni Live 2.0 and how it affects live interaction with older versions of Create and Connectors! Live 2.0 will not live sync with Live 1.0, this includes Connectors with a version under 200!

Extendable Viewport

A new viewport is now included in Create 2022.2 allowing python extendability. Developers can leverage this capability to generate customized workflows and features directly in the viewport. Customized viewfinders, specialized manipulators, and more are now available to be created.

Visual Scripting

Visual Scripters will be happy to hear we have made significant improvements to Omnigraph nodes and execution flow while adding new nodes to help fill out your toolbox. Mouse derived events, in viewport GUI options, and new interactions for how to start your graphs based on level load events are just a few examples.

Content Creation Improvements

Persistent Menus

New “tear-off” menu functionality allows for UI panels to float in the interface rather than being docked. This means users can customize their UI to have instant access to commonly used menu items.

New Manipulator Options

New manipulators options give artists and developers more control. We’ve added a variety of new methods to manipulate your selections, resulting in a smoother workflow in the viewport.

Array Tool

Open up new design possibilities and dramatically speed up repetitive tasks with the new Array tool. Duplicate, offset and rotate your way to a professional looking Stage - all in real time!

Pivot Tool

This pivot manipulator helps transform your pivot point within Create. Whether adjusting a misplaced pivot from an incoming connected app or to help with layout, the pivot tool adds some much needed control over your assets.

Randomizer

This neat new tool makes quick work of randomizing rotation, scale and position across a number of assets.

Wow, It’s like you’ve been hearing my wishes without even me uttering them ! most of these features are things I needed recently !

So I just tested create 2022.2.0 Beta, and I encountered a couple of blocking issues.
This is how my scene originally looks like in 2022.1.5

in 2022.2.0 Beta :

  • The fisheye spherical camera doesn’t work properly in 2022.2.0 beta, as you can see in the sides the rest of the environment is cut off.
  • The screen in the middle has an OmniSurfaceLite shader with a color image in the emission, in 2022.2.0 beta it renders black.

These issues are present in both RTX real time and interactive (path trace), the spherical issue was also present in RTX real time in 2022.1.5 but it didn’t bother me since we use path trace for final render anyway.

Question : would there be issues if I use the beta now for my scene layout and then go back to 2022.1.5 for final render?

Thank you again for the exciting new features !

Thanks for the reports!

On the camera issue, we changed how camera scaling works in 2022.2, before it scaled relative to screen space, now the widget’s size is equal to the scale value on the camera itself. You can either hide the camera meshes with the eyeball or scale the mesh down. However, the camera you inhabit shouldn’t be displaying the camera mesh so perhaps you have found us a nice issue to follow up on :)

Regarding OmniSurfaceLite we’ll investigate asap! You should be fine editing in 2022.2 and rendering in 2022.1.

For the camera bug in fisheye, the work-around is: in the HUD settings (eye icon at the top of the viewport), in Show By Type, uncheck Camera.

This release improved the emission unit conversion for OmniSurface* materials.

To get the same result as previous versions, please multiply the “emission’s intensity” by 1000.

Thank you @mramezanali that did fix the emission issue for me.

@DaneTrain I should’ve known that it was actually displaying the camera mesh lol, so yeah both your solution of hiding the camera prim and @PhilippeR’s solution of disabling cameras in HUD settings fixed the issue. Scaling the camera to 0 causes the image to go blue, messing with the camera transforms is generally not something I would do anyway.

Thank you all !

Love the new materials library, faster loading, also the Navigation improvement with mouse and wheel tracking.
Slight lag to generate applied material?
Emissive lighting is not in new material library?

Hi, I cannot change the type of new variable in the animation graph in 2022.2.0 beta, but it works in 2022.1.5.
