Does Video Codec SDK 12.1 support decoding alpha channel in HEVC?

The SDK supports encoding an alpha channel into an HEVC bitstream. Is there support for HW decoding of the alpha channel on the client side?

I’m also wondering the same thing. Can anyone from Nvidia answer?

NVDEC does not support decoding alpha channel.

After much discussion with Nvidia I was given two choices for Alpha,

  • Use vp9 encoding with Alpha
  • use 2110 with separate secondary stream for Alpha
