Flashing Orin NX 16GB on VMWare

I am currently stuck trying to flash my Orin NX 16GB running it through a VMWare Workstation Player Pro 17 using Ubuntu 20.04 for Yahboom carrier on a 256GB Flash Drive. I am currently running out of ideas as I have tried reflashing the Jetson Orin NX with Jetpack 6, 5.1.3, 5.1.2, 5.1.1 and installation is all failing at 95.5%. Every time I tried to flash a new Jetpack version, I had to take out the SSD Card from the Jetson Orin , delete all the partitions and create one new partition.

My goal is to achieve the following successfully:
Steps to flash:

  1. Remove All partitions
  2. Create a new partition Using Disk Genius
  3. Put SSD into Jetson Orin NX
  4. Flash Jetpack using SDK Manager
  5. Remove SSD Again
  6. Remove All partitions
  7. Create a new partition Using Disk Genius
  8. Use Win32DiskImager to burn Robot image into that partition
  9. Expand the image to use unallocated space using Disk Genius
  10. Plug the SSD back into the Jetson Orin NX 16GB

Any guidance would be much appreciated as I have spent well over two weeks on this matter.

The VM is not supported, please have a native Ubuntu OS host.

Does the Ubuntu OS have to be a specific version?
Like Ubuntu 18 or Ubuntu 20.0.4?

You can refer to System Requirements — SDK Manager 2.1.0 documentation (nvidia.com), but the Ubuntu 22.04 is better for Orin family.

I am currently using the following links provided by my carrier.

Any recommendations for me if you have had experience flashing Jetson Orin NX 16GB with these robots and they use a specific Ubuntu version of 20.04 ?

I will try to use a Ubuntu OS host but it has Ubuntu version 22.04, do you think that will work out if I flash the Jetson Nano Orin NX using Ubuntu 22.04? or will I have to downgrade the host to 20.04?

Sorry for asking so many questions and thanks for the help so far

Would a bootable USB also work for the Ubuntu OS host? would dual booting work as well? or would I have to set the main operating system as Ubuntu for the host?

Due to you’re using 3rd patry carrier board, it’s better to conslut with them for the device flashing method. Thanks

I am also wondering when it comes to the flashing process, do we have to remove the FC REC jumper cable during flashing?
Where can I find the exact steps I need to follow for flashing Jetson Orin NX 16GB

Will I be able to flash the Jetson Orin NX using a bootable Ubuntu USB with Ubuntu 20.04?

It doesn’t matter whether REC/GND is shorted once the flash process has started.

Please refer to the following following instruction.
To Flash the Jetson Developer Kit Operating Software

It is not supported on Jetson device yet.
