Flickering at the top of the screen

What system to you use? I use KDE Neon.

but is 525.125.06 stable? Apart from the games, it is ok? Because i read somewhere that 525.125.06 also has the same bug.

Manjaro Gnome, do you have an interface on KDE to do that?
@ngbit.sec I have tested version 530.41.03 and it was excellent, only now I had to reinstall

Yes, there is also an Interface with “software-properties-qt”. There in choose my favorite driver. On the CMD ein can do that with this:

apt remove *nvidia* --purge
reboot or onload the kernelmodul
apt install nvidia-driver-525

If you do this, it is a good idea to stop X.

Or use the “ubuntu-drivers” utility.

Anyone tried the brand new 535.98 already?

Amazing. I just tried it. It works!! No more flickering !! :)

I set the Powermizer to auto, and everything is fine.

Thanks nvidia !

No luck with 535.98 :( Still got random flickering specially with Firefox opened… maybe I need to remove nvidia_drm.modeset=1 from grub?

OS: Arch Linux x86_64
Kernel: 6.4.9-arch1-1
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Rev. A
WM: i3
Screen Resolution: DVI-D-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 531mm x 298mm
1920x1080 60.00 + 144.00* 119.98 99.93

With 535.98 the flickering still happens, but much more rarely than before. The screen do flicker once in a while with the kernel parameter nvidia_drm.modeset=1 removed from grub.

GPU: GeForce RTX 2070
OS: CachyOS
Kernel: 6.4.8
Screen resolution: 3840x2160@60Hz

Im using the PC already 2 days fully, i don’t see any issue on mine. Also played a game.
Im not using the nvidia_drm=1 . Just fresh installed the driver, nothing else.

Powermizer is set also to Auto.

Driver Version: 535.98
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Debian 12
Linux localhost 6.1.0-10-amd64
2 x Screens (2560x1440)

Just remove nvidia_drm.modset=1 from grub and it seems that flickering has gone away!

Update: Sorry, flickering is present but with lower frequency :-/

Flickering not solved for me.

Nvidia Driver Version: 535.98

GPU: GeForce GTX 2080Ti

Screen Resolution: 2560x1440 @ 144Hz

OS: Manjaro Linux Kernel 6.1.44-1 LTS

Desktop: KDE with X11

Still not solved for me.

GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Screen Resolution: 4K@60Hz
OS: Arch Linux latest
Desktop: Gnome/X11
Kernel: 6.4.10-arch1-1

Same here the issue still exists. I’ve got an ASUS XG27AQ and a RTX 2060. I’m using ArchLinux with Linux zen kernel. The drivers is at 535.98. I’m using X with KDE. My grub command line is GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel=3 resume=UUID=4461aafb-f9f2-431d-b01e-948248922a3f tsc=reliable quiet".

I tested the screen with a Steam Deck to be sure it wasn’t the screen and I couldn’t reproduce the issue with the Steam Deck. I also tried switching to older 525 drivers but the driver didn’t boot up properly, I’ll try maybe later with a live USB or something like that.

Still noticing the same issue, using a GTX 1660 Ti, on Manjaro (updated today) using 535.98 with kernel 6.4.9 on both X org and Wayland using nvidia_drm.modeset=1. I adjusted PowerMizer to both Auto and Adaptive on X org (doesn’t seem configurable on Wayland?) and I still noticed the issue. I haven’t tried Max Performance Mode.

I was facing this issue even on 535.98 using the nvidia-dkms package while using 6.1.46-1-lts kernel on arch linux. But that changed when I switched to nvidia-lts package instead. Now I almost get no flickers. Very rarely I see like a few flickers on the top portion of my screen, still running my monitor at 2560x1440 @ 144Hz refresh rate.

It’d be great if someone else can confirm if this is a one-off or a reproducible observation. Thanks.

Same issue here on 535.98 with a 1660. Downgrading to 525 fixes the issue but breaks multiple other things, so it isn’t really a solution.

According to release notes 535.104.05 should fix flicker issues. Will try soon.

Still flickers with 535.104, but rarely - once in ~10 mins.

GPU: GeForce RTX 2070
OS: CachyOS
Kernel: 6.4.11
Screen resolution: 3840x2160@60Hz

No kernel parameter nvidia_drm.modeset=1 set in grub.

A bit less flicker with 535.104.05 but it’s still there. Mint/Cinnamon 20.3, MSI RTX 4060 Ti, DP-connected 2560x1440@60 HP, kernel 5.15.0-76. nvidia_drm.modeset=1 is on.

Meanwhile I think it is the kernel. 6.2. On KDE Neon Ubuntu 22.04 with driver 535.86.05-0ubuntu0.22.04.1. Everything is perfect. (Geforce 4090)
