I am wondering if this will work.
The HDFury device takes a 3.5mm jack for RS232 control.
Would I be able to use a cable like this one…
…to control the HDFury device?
Is there anything I need to be aware of?

If you plug the USB in to your Jetson, and if it has the FTDI driver (extraordinarily likely it already has this), then you’d see the UART at the Jetson in as some “/dev/ttyUSB#” device. The three minimal pins at the other end are ground, TX, and RX. The ground is obvious, but what I don’t know is if your device has the other two (TX and RX) on the correct locations of the 3.5 mm jack. What we also don’t know is if your device at the 3.5 mm end uses the same signal levels. The USB UART cable will have listed voltage level for the signal, and so will there be a listing for your end device. If all of that is correct, then this sort of thing rather generic and works over a very broad set of both hardware and software. No guarantee, but given the other requirements, chances are good it will work.
Thank you! I will scrutinise more closely.
