GPU is lost when running Deep Learning codes on Ubuntu16.04 with two GTX TITAN X

Hi, there. I’m running Ubuntu16.04 on a HP Z640 workstation. There are two identical Nvidia GTX TITAN X on the board. I can use these cards as usual. However, when I run any Deep Learning programs (ex: caffe, tensorflow, matconvnet). The system went crash and become black screen.
The output of command “nvidia-smi” as followed:

XID 79 points to overheating or insufficient/flaky power supply. Also reseat card(s) and check power connectors. Check temperature using nvidia-smi -q

I checked re-pluged two cards and power connector. Black screen still exist. Change system from 16.04 to 14.04,again, no lucky.The next plan is monitor temperature of the cards.I tried the command “nvidia-smi -q”, it works but can not monitor the temperature online.I’ll find out a way, and feedback latter. What kind of PSU (Wattage) are you using.
You can use something like
nvidia-smi -q -d temperature -l 2 >temperature.log
to constantly monitor temperatures every 2 seconds.

hi,sorry for the late feedback. just back from a long journey. I checked one N card with the cmd: nvidia-smi -q -d temperature -l 1 >temperature.log. The records are attached. it seems that the temperature was ok before the gpu lost. As you mentioned " insufficient/flaky power supply" is another reason. I can’t get a new card or new PSU(the current one is 900W). What can I do to locate the real reason, is there any cmd for power monitor? Thanks a lot

In your initial post, gpu at pci 03:00 was failing, now it’s 02:00, did you switch cards or just remove one?
You can attach files to your existing post, hover the mouse over it and a paperclip will appear.
