Install Graph Composer on Windows 10 according to this link: Getting Started — DeepStream 6.1.1 Release documentation

Hello, after installing Graph Composer on two different systems, it is broken in similar ways on both. On both machines, I installed from the link mentioned in my technical info above.

On one machine, the XPS 9550 with an old GPU, the “NVIDIA Graph Composer 2.0.1” window is totally black with zero content inside the graphics area of the window.

On another machine, the XPS 9500 with T2000, the same window appears, and the window has some some content, but most of it is missing. See the attached screenshot.

The screenshot shows the errors that appeared in the app’s console, which may be useful for diagnostics.

I’ve tried launching the applications as administrator with no effect.

How can I fix this? I mainly want to get this working on the XPS 9500 with T2000. The other machine was just to try it somewhere else.

I’d also be willing to try installing to Windows Subsystem for Linux, but it sounds like that’s not a supported platform.

Screenshot from XPS 9500 with T2000

Here’s the separate console window output.

I never met such problem with my machine.

Can you check why this error happens? How did you install the package?

https://docs.nvidia.com/metropolis/deepstream/dev-guide/graphtools-docs/docs/text/GraphComposer_Getting_Started.html#installing-the-composer-on-windows
You need administrative permissions to run the Composer.

All I can say about that error is that I do indeed have P: mapped. It is disconnected whenever I am away from the office, as is the case at the moment. Why does this affect Graph Composer to the point of causing an error? I have no idea.

Note that the other computer (XPS 9550) has no P: mapped but still wasn’t working.

As stated in the original post, I installed Graph Composer from that same link you mentioned. I believe this is the most official and correct way to install it on Windows.

I forgot to address this. As stated in my original post, I have tried administrator permissions.

Any ideas on this one? Two computers, one work and one personal, with both having similar problems… seems to be a real issue with the Graph Composer. How can I get further support?

Another user here saying they can’t start Graph Composer on Windows 10, posted 4 hours ago:
Graph composer X86 computer specifications required - Intelligent Video Analytics / DeepStream SDK - NVIDIA Developer Forums

Hi,
You need to sync the Registry before starting to use it. In the Registry menu, select Sync Repo.

Thanks for responding and attempting to help me.

I assume you are referring to Fiona’s post here. However, I don’t understand what this means.

  1. There’s no “Registry menu” when I open Graph Composer.
  2. I found a directory called registry inside the Graph Composer install directory in c:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Coporation\Graph Composer, but there is no executable or obvious way to get to a “Registry menu” from there. It’s just a bunch of obfuscated python files.
  3. A search for “NVIDIA registry” does not surface any obvious NVIDIA tools that I might need to additionally install.

@pg_velu Please clarify how to get to this “Registry menu.” Thank you.

OK, getting closer, I found this is the registry being referred to:
Registry Command Line Interface — DeepStream 6.1.1 Release documentation (nvidia.com)

…but when I attempt to use the CLI commands in Windows cmd, the registry executable is not recognized.

I also tried running the sync commands registry repo sync -n ngc-public and registry repo sync in the Console window of Graph Composer, but the command isn’t recognized there, either.

Why your user name is <removed>? Seem your windows is not configured correctly.

I removed my username for privacy.

No. The registry in windows can only be triggered by the GUI.

A few posts up I show how the command is also not working from the console in the GUI.

How did you run the “C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\Graph Composer\composer.exe”? Why can’t I see your Windows desktop?

How did you get the console?

Is it a stand alone Windows 10 in your device or just a virtual machine?

Please install standard Windows 10 version and run the exe file by GUI operation in explorer.

Thanks for continuing to help.

I ran composer.exe by right clicking it in the directory you mention and selecting run as administrator from the context menu.

Not sure what you mean.

I get the feeling you are going to ask about the Graph Composer shortcut that the Graph Composer installer offered to create. During installation, I unchecked the box to add the shortcut because I don’t want shortcuts cluttering my desktop. Did that shortcut contain some important properties for running the executable? If so, I would argue that NVIDIA should make the shortcut non-optional.

The console just appeared in Graph Composer when I open it as administrator. See screenshot.

Stand-alone / bare metal Windows 10 Enterprise. It’s the same Windows my laptop boots into. Version 21H2, OS build 19044.1889, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0.

That’s exactly what I did.

Then the GUI should look like

It doesn’t look like that.

Do I need to sync the registry? How to do so?

What you can see? Can you open C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\Graph Composer\composer\omni.exp.graph.composer\extension.toml to check the version? It is a text file.

Here’s the contents of the file:
