hello alejandro.concepcion,
may I know what’s your usage about reading the serial number?
you could check it via sysnode as below.
for example,
$ sudo -i
# ls /proc/device-tree/chosen/plugin-manager/ids/
2822-0000-400 2888-0001-400 name
there’s also the chip-set revision information from kernel message.
$ dmesg | grep "Tegra Revision"
BTW,
you might also check the Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit User Guide,

Reference carrier board (P2822).
Hello JerryChang,
Basically, as we have several AGX Xavier devkits we would like to keep track of the different boards by reading the S/N of the SoM. Will this way to read the S/N give the same S/N that is indicated in the devkit box?
Thanks!

BTW, the SoM and the carrier board of the devkits have each of them a diferent S/N, right?
hello alejandro.concepcion,
please ignore my previous comments, since that only check the board ID.
suggest you check the EEPROM for the S/N numbers,
for example,
$ sudo i2cdump -f -y 0 0x50
you might also refer to Jetson Module EEPROM Layout for details,
thanks
