Inconsistencies mounting and writing to external USB drive

I’m working on an NVIDIA AGX Xavier which is running 4.9.140-tegra.

When I plug in an external USB drive (formatted as exFAT), it will sometimes be mounted in the user folder as /media/USER/ssd1 and everything writes and reads correctly. Though, it will sometimes mount as /media/5FA5-1920. When it mounts in this way, writing will not work correctly. For example, attempting to rsync to that device will result in errors such as

rsync: chgrp "/media/5FA5-1920/Log_dump" failed: Operation not permitted (1)

It will continue to “write” but at the end of the operation, only the directory structure is present, none of the files.

please remove the etc/udev/rules.d/99-nv-ufs-mount.rules and it should mount to the correct path.

FYI, a good way to deactivate that udev file is to compress it:
sudo bzip2 /etc/udev/rules.d/99-nv-ufs-mount.rules
…and if you decompress it later with bunzip2, then the file will activate again.
