Jetson Nano 2gb display not working

Dear Nvidia Dev Team,
We are facing display issue a lot, Where the new lot have this issue of No Display, The power Led is turned on But With Nvidia Jetson 2GB Dev Kit - no Display, Out of 20 Units , 11-12 Units have the same Problem, This is not something which we have faced with Jetson Nano, Since half the LOT is working, their is no issue with our setup, But the other half which is failing points out the QC of this LOT, Please help us with a solution or Process as the failure rate is really high.
I have checked the carrier board it’s working, I changed the Jetson board SOM on the carrier board and the issue is resolved
Thank you for your time

Is this issue just “display not working” or actually the board is not even booting into kernel? or you cannot tell?

Carrier board is working fine, because I changed the SOM board and I got the display, I currently have 22 pieces of Jetson nano not showing display. Green Led light is on, on the carrier board.
When we power the Jetson nano we get the display of Nvidia and it remains there if the OS is not flashed on the SD card,(working Jetson nano 2gb)
The current issue is I don’t get any display when I power the Jetson nano
Thank you

Hi,

So you are basically not sure if the board really boots up right?

I didn’t mean anything about hardware or power. I mean the software. For example, you cannot tell if it is fails to boot into ubuntu. You only saw monitor showed nothing.

Is that your current situation?

Sorry if u didn’t understand me
No software is booted because no display no Nvidia no black screen with some statements on it
When Jetson nano is turned on without the SD card, it turns on with the Nvidia screen showing no SD card inserted.
Right now when I turn on the Jetson nano I don’t see Nvidia screen and no SD card notification (no display).

Now I have some Jetson nano 2gb which works with the SD card and in some even with flashed SD card it doesn’t show any display so I am not sure whether it’s booted or not, I am taking output from HDMI.

So I have two separate issues.

Hi,

Then it is time to learn how to check issue. Software is not judged by using a monitor to check. For example, maybe the display driver is dead but your device still boots. In this situation, the system boots but just monitor not able to render.

It is totally different cases between such situation or something else that even fail to boot into kernel.

Take some modules out and dump the log from uart pin.

If you don’t want to and don’t have time to do this, then just flash your module with sdkmanager from another x86 host PC. Most of issues would be resolved by this.

If you want to know why you have to flash with sdkmanager, I already explained that in point 0 of this post. You can take a look.

So u are saying if I do this what u mentioned above I will get display without SD card right?

Because it’s in our QC protocol to check the display without SD card first and then flash SD card and put into the Jetson nano
Thank you

Hi,

No, I am not talking about that. I mean we just reflash the whole board first. Sdcard is still needed.

Okay I will follow all the instructions provided by you and will share the results here
Thank you for your time

If you need a really diagnoses about what happened on your board, then you need dump log as my previous comment.

Note: it took a lot of time to reach here and its stuck, please take a look

Hi,

This method is just to provide you an interface that can access your board.
The system is waiting for you to login as this one showed.

byonyks-desktop login:

Please use your account to login and then share me the dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
It looks like system is still fine but maybe the graphic driver has some problem. That is why I need further log.

After following the techniques you showed fixed the issue of display, after that when i change the boot logo it doesnot work and the Jetson nano display is gone.
jetpack 6.4.3 was being used during flashing.
But at the same time the jetson nano which we received and didnt have display issue, its logo is changed very easily and its working perfectly fine, but the jetson nano which i flashed is having problem of boot logo. please check this issue and let me know if i am doing something wrong
Thank you

Hi,

If original issue is already resolved, please file a new topic for your new issue.

We don’t use one topic to track everything …

@mohiz.ahmad

Just want to clarify because I saw you new post… are you talking about logo cannot show only or you are still talking about you cannot see anything on the monitor… I mean not just only boot logo…

i can see everything on the screen with boot logo as well after i followed the steps mentioned by you for flashing.
Now the issue is i cannot change boot logo (the picture of nvidia) on the devices which i flashed, and during changing boot logo it doesnot work and the display is again gone because of updating the logo

Now the Jetson nano which i had which didnot have display issue, there boot logo has been changed without any issue and its working fine but the issue which i am facing are those jetson nano’s which i flashed with SKDmanager using Jetpack 4.6.4

Are you talking about your device is dead again after you try to update boot logo with jp4.6.4?

i am not changing logo with JP4.6.4.
I used JP4.6.4 for flashing Jetson nano, this step is done, and display issue was resolved
Now the other issue is when i want to update the Boot logo it is unsuccessful after this when i try to turn on the Jetson nano i dont get any display. i hope this explains everything
and i have experience of changing boot logo and it works fine with the boards which was flashed by the company

about dead i dont know i think reflashing will resolve the display issue now i dont know why its hard for me to update the logo on the jetson nano dev kit which was flashed by me because i followed all the steps properly and still something is not working i hope you will understand my issue and suggest some solution
its been a great help thank you
