Hello,
I’ve a developer kit, which seems to be quite old:
cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
# R35 (release), REVISION: 4.1, GCID: 33958178, BOARD: t186ref, EABI: aarch64, DATE: Tue Aug 1 19:57:35 UTC 2023
According to the Quick Start Guide I should upgrade to R35.5 first, before I can use newer versions.
What is the easiest way to perform this upgrade?
Constraints:
- No Ubuntu Host PC available
- SDK Manager installed on a Windows 11 PC, but can’t be connected to developer.nvidia.com (Session expired…), maybe due to company firewall, proxy, …
- SDK Manager → Install from local folder: Not working, because I didn’t find a way to download the R35.5 BSP
- Setup is with display attached and internet over guest-wifi
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/nvidia-l4t-apt-source.list contains:
deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/common r35.4 main
deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/t234 r35.4 main
sudo apt update → only lists libopencv-dev as upgradable, but actually can’t be upgraded due to unmet dependencies (conflicts with other packages).
Thanks

To upgrade your Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit from R35.4.1 to R35.5, you can try the following steps:
- Update the apt sources list to point to the R35.5 repository:
sudo bash -c 'echo "deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/common r35.5 main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nvidia-l4t-apt-source.list'
sudo bash -c 'echo "deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/t234 r35.5 main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nvidia-l4t-apt-source.list'
- Update the package list and upgrade to R35.5:
sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade
sudo reboot
Please note that you may need to reboot between sudo apt update and sudo apt dist-upgrade as mentioned in the community solution.
Also, ensure that your internet connection is stable and not blocked by any firewall or proxy, as this may cause issues with the upgrade process.
If you encounter any issues during the upgrade process, you can try to remove the broken packages and then retry the upgrade:
sudo apt remove --autoremove <package_name>
Replace <package_name> with the actual package name that is causing the issue.
If none of the above steps work, you may need to re-flash the device with the latest L4T version (35.5) using SDK Manager. However, since you mentioned that SDK Manager is not working due to a session expired error, you may need to resolve this issue first.
I could not find clear support for upgrading from R35.4.1 to R35.5 without using SDK Manager or an Ubuntu host PC in the provided Jetson AGX Orin documentation.
