Jetson Orin Nano continuously boots into shell mode — OS not loading even after multiple flashes

I’m facing a persistent issue with my Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit — it’s not booting properly and continuously enters shell mode instead of loading the operating system.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • I have flashed the SD card more than 10 times using both SDK Manager and BalenaEtcher.

  • I used the latest JetPack image (JetPack 6.0) from the official NVIDIA website.

  • The flashing process completes successfully, but after inserting the SD card and powering on the board, it drops into shell mode every time.

  • I’ve also tried reformatting the SD card, using different SD cards, and re-flashing from scratch, but the issue persists.

Could you please help me understand what might be causing this issue or guide me on how to fix it? I’d really appreciate any assistance or troubleshooting steps.

Hi,

Please set up a native Ubuntu environment and install the SDK Manager to perform a full device flash.
If any issues occur, kindly export and provide the SDK Manager log.

Thanks.

I tried flashing the jetson through USB but got the same screen again and again.

Is that a VM? I saw Windows machine is in use.

We recommend setting up a native Ubuntu environment and installing SDK Manager to perform a full flash of the devices.
