Mad Max Linux is running with bad performance

Hi,

recently i bought Mad Max on steam, but it is not playable on my system. It has massive fps drops and a generaly bad performance. Can anyone here confirm, that there is an issue with that game?

My specs are:

I’m also attach the nvidia-bugreport:

I’ve only played the Linux version for a few minutes and performance was good (4770k/GTX 1080 with driver 375.26 on Fedora 25), above 60fps. What kind of FPS are you seeing in-game? Is it bad all the time?

It fluctuates between over 100 down to 12. It’s not playable witch such fluctuates.

I played some more and there are no framerate dips for me. My in-game settings are the “Very High” preset , except for Motion Blur which I turned off. V-Sync is also disabled. FPS smoothing in the launcher’s advanced tab is not ticked.

Bump!

Bump!

Even with the new beta driver Mad Max is unpayable. It doesn’t matter what graphics settings i choose.
Even on low settings the fps are stuttering like hell.

Try Vulkan:

Would try that, but after jumped to the beta, Mad Max does not start at all.

Do you have vulkan-loader installed?

If it is a package, it does not exist in debian.

debian package libvulkan1

towo:Defiant> dpkg -l | grep vulkan
ii libvulkan1:amd64 1.0.39.0+dfsg1-1 amd64 Vulkan loader library
ii nvidia-vulkan-common 375.39-1 amd64 NVIDIA Vulkan driver - common files
ii nvidia-vulkan-icd:amd64 375.39-1 amd64 NVIDIA Vulkan installable client driver (ICD)
ii vulkan-utils 1.0.39.0+dfsg1-1 amd64 Miscellaneous Vulkan utilities

Btw, Talos Principle is running fine with vulkan. Another vulkan game i sadly not own.

Saw you mailed Feral at Phoronix’
Maybe interesting for fixing your initial problem, seems to be tied to the 4.9 kernel:

I have tryed that script and it does indeed make the game better, but not comparable to windows, where it is running absolutely smooth on much higher graphical settings.

From another thread:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/998936/linux/bad-performance-and-stuttering-with-375-39-but-not-367-57/post/5119396/#5119396

Overall, Mad Max seems to be extremely cpu bound, so performance will only really get better with Vulkan.
