Material/texture changed to "red color" display when open by another user within a shared drive

Hello,

We are all new to this, We have a problem here:

A 3D model, created in Autodesk Maya with applied textures and materials, is exported as an FBX file and imported into Unreal Engine 5.3. The model is then transferred to Omniverse USD Composer and saved as a USD stage scene. All processes occur on a single workstation, with all files (3D, textures, materials) stored locally. When copying these files, including the USD stage scene, to a shared drive for another user to access, the textures and materials display as red. What could be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for your question. OK let’s start at the top. Why are you going from Maya to unreal back to OV? Why not just go directly from Maya to Omniverse and cut out unreal?

You were just adding a lot of processing that doesn’t need to happen.

For one thing, why not take the FBX file and bring it into unreal, if that’s what you need. Then take the same FBX file separately and bring that into Omniverse. One FBX file, two possible outcomes.

The problem is the whole unreal to Omniverse. Unreal is not ready for usd out natively right now. It’s just not ready. Now, if you wanted to use Omniverse with unreal directly, we have a connector which works pretty well. However, that only works for unreal 5.0. No higher.

To help you further I would need to understand your actual intended, workflow, and your intended and goal. Flowing through three separate softwares is not efficient.
