Mst hub for agx orin

Hi ,

We are currently using agx orin module 64gb , but the module gives out only one dp port , we would like to know if there is any MST hub supported by nvidia that we can use to convert the dp out into 2 hdmi outputs?

The Jetson AGX Orin module you are using has a single DisplayPort (DP) output, and you are looking to convert it into two HDMI outputs using a Multi-Stream Transport (MST) hub.

According to the provided documentation, the Jetson Orin module supports DisplayPort (DP) and HDMI outputs. However, it only has one interface available, which can be either DP or HDMI. The documentation also mentions that DisplayPort supports multi-head display through MST.

Regarding MST hubs, the documentation does not specifically mention any NVIDIA-supported MST hubs. However, it does mention that DisplayPort supports MST, which implies that you can use a third-party MST hub to convert the DP output into multiple HDMI outputs.

When selecting an MST hub, ensure that it is compatible with the Jetson AGX Orin module’s DisplayPort output and can support the desired resolution and refresh rate for your application.

Here are some general guidelines for selecting an MST hub:

  1. Compatibility: Ensure the MST hub is compatible with the Jetson AGX Orin module’s DisplayPort output.
  2. Resolution and Refresh Rate: Choose an MST hub that can support the desired resolution and refresh rate for your application.
  3. Number of Outputs: Select an MST hub that can provide the required number of HDMI outputs (in your case, two).
  4. Power Consumption: Consider the power consumption of the MST hub and ensure it is within the acceptable range for your application.

In summary, while the documentation does not specifically mention any NVIDIA-supported MST hubs, you can use a third-party MST hub to convert the DP output into multiple HDMI outputs. Ensure the selected MST hub is compatible with the Jetson AGX Orin module and meets your application’s requirements.

Here’s a comparison of the Jetson Orin NX and Nano modules, which might be relevant to your question:

  • Jetson Orin NX and Nano modules support HDMI in addition to DP.
  • You can customize the carrier baseboard to HDMI or plug Orin NX or Nano modules to Xavier NX carrier board that comes with an HDMI port.
  • To flash the board with HDMI support, you need to use the p3509-a02-p3767-0000.conf config file.

However, this information is not directly relevant to your question about using an MST hub with the Jetson AGX Orin module.

There is no MST hub verified by NVIDIA in the Jetson AGX Orin Series Supported Component List but the user in this comment successfully used a solution from Synpatics: Support on mst board - #6 by jameskuo

Beware the information in that post and the linked one about disabling DSC in the driver.

NVIDIA’s testing used MST daisy-chained through monitors.

Hi ,
Thank you for the reply , the reason of posting is it because i found a thread which i have attached below :

In this it says the MST hub is not validated by nvidia, so we would like to know if there are any MST hub validated by Nvidia that we could use so that we dont face the similar problems.

That is still the case now.

Hi,

So is there any MST hub validated by nvidia , if yes could you share the details , even if it is the two dp out MST hub.

There is no MST hub validated by NVIDIA.

Hi ,
In the previous thread provided it says that Nvidia has validated MST hub with 2 dp out but not with 2 HDMI out.

could you please clarify on this

Your case is addressed in this sentence from the post you quoted.

This does not mean that DP to 2 HDMI will not work, just that NVIDIA has not directly validated it.

From the thread I linked, another user has a working solution for your case Support on mst board - #6 by jameskuo

Hi WayneWWW:
Sorry for the late response. We are using Synaptics vmm5320.
We are trying to use DP → DP + HDMI or DP → HDMI + HDMI. DP → 2 HDMI works fine.

Hi ,
Thank you , yes i had gone through the thread , i just wanted to know if there is any chip that has been validated by NVIDIA
