Multi-GPU Setup with 8 Monitors: Display Layout Keeps Changing - Need Help

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working with a workstation equipped with two NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPUs and a Quadro Sync device. The setup connects to 8 monitors, each with a resolution of 2160×3840, arranged horizontally in a single row.

When I configure the display layout using Windows “Display Settings” or the NVIDIA Control Panel, everything initially works fine. However, after some time (or after restarting the system), the layout changes automatically. Monitors either overlap or get rearranged into multiple rows, disrupting the original horizontal layout.

Windows tends to rearrange monitors when reconnecting, restarting, or going to sleep, which could be the reason why monitors are rearranged. Disable automatic management option: In Settings → System → Display, make sure that the “Automatically detect monitors” option is not enabled. Sometimes, Windows may try to rearrange monitors based on its automatic detection, which can result in overlapping or incorrect rearrangements.
