When running fio random-read performance tests on a USB external drive via the GUI, we see GPU errors in the serial console and the graphical interface freezes—becoming completely unresponsive, with no reaction to mouse clicks on any icons.

Hi,
Please test on developer kit and see if the issue is present. If yes, please share us the steps. We will set up developer kit with latest Jetpack 6.2.1 and try to replicate it.

We tested on the devkit with a SanDisk 1 TB portable SSD and JetPack 5.1.2. The issue still occurs: a flood of GPU errors and the UI freezes. The serial log is identical to the one attached in the first post.

We updated the devkit to JetPack 5.1.2 and connected an HDMI display via a DP-to-HDMI cable. A 1 TB SanDisk portable SSD (USB) was plugged into the USB port on the DB50 side; lsblk confirmed it was recognized:

We then ran the following fio command:

    --size=100% --filename=/dev/sda --ramp_time=5 --runtime=10 --time_based

During the test the GUI froze and the serial console showed the GPU error logs previously described. After the fio run finished the desktop remained unresponsive to mouse clicks. After a while the session crashed, the GUI reloaded, and we were returned to the login screen.

The same procedure under JetPack 6.0 did not reproduce the issue.

Hi, Even though the issue is not present in later JetPack releases, we are unfortunately required to use JetPack 5.1.2 by our customer and cannot switch to a different version. We are providing the information about the later version only for comparison and reference, to help identify the root cause of the issue. We may not be able to test Jetpack 5.1.2. Would suggest you uprade to later version.

Since there are later Jetpack releases for Orin, would strongly suggest upgrade the Jetpack version.
