- Thermal manual of AGC orin mentions temperature monitored by the internal software, does this temperature Tj which will be shown by the AI engine software corresponds to Soc temperature. Do we consider margin between SOC max operation temperature of 105 and the monitored temperature in software Tj?
- Can we reliably follow temperature from software Tj during unbalanced workload, will that give us absolute max inside the soc?
- Why two thermocouple locations on TTP, what are they under? which TTP location is under soc?
- there are two locations on TTP is their a internal sensor on that locations or do costumers are expected to attach their own thermocouples?
- Which temperature out of TTP thermocouples, and internal software Tj should be followed during unbalanced workload?
1. Thermal manual of AGC orin mentions temperature monitored by the internal software, does this temperature Tj which will be shown by the AI engine software corresponds to Soc temperature. -
As stated in the Jetson AGX Orin Thermal Design Guide, the reported Tj is the highest of the internal sensors on the Orin SoC. Do keep in mind a couple of things:
-
Throttling will occur between the recommended operating temperature limit of 99.0°C and the 105.0°C maximum operating temperature.
-
The Orin SoC sensors have an uncertainty of +/-3°C.
-
2. Can we reliably follow temperature from software Tj during unbalanced workload, will that give us absolute max inside the soc?
- Yes.
3. Why two thermocouple locations on TTP, what are they under? which TTP location is under soc?
- These monitor two locations important to the module temperature.
4. there are two locations on TTP is their a internal sensor on that locations or do costumers are expected to attach their own thermocouples?
- Customers should attach their own thermocouples during qualification testing to these two locations to monitor against the maximum TTP operating temperature of 80.0°C.
5. Which temperature out of TTP thermocouples, and internal software Tj should be followed during unbalanced workload?
- Both TTP and Tj temperatures should be considered. Exceeding the recommended Tj will result in throttling and exceeding the maximum temperatures will result in a thermal trip that causes system reset.
