Hi,
Sometimes sharpening mip map values is desirable to maintain contrast since typically two mip levels are sampled and bilinearly interpolated to produce the final sample value which can lose contrast. While in principle this might seem to extend to an “effects chain for mip levels” feature request but this here is really only limited to a sharpening to the mip chain.

Totally agree.
NV texture tool have a lack of 2 simple things:
- Bilinear filtering for lossless mips downsampling. (Now Box is too sharp and aliased, Kaiser is too blurry)
- Unsharp mask for range of mips. For example 1-5. Because in most cases there are no any reason to sharp accurately made asset texture in MIP-0. Such as no any profit for sharpening mips with low amount of pixels, because on such distances texture should became average color or tone.
- Unsharp masking in photoshop 0.2-0.3 pixels 200-100% amount makes very good reconstruction of subpixel details without 1px ugly contrast outlines.
Now Photoshop aliases is only way to create really good MIPchain, unfortunately.
