Shutdown failure after installing Nvidia drivers Debian 12

Hi,

Let me start off with saying I’m not experiencing any issues other than this.

I’m having trouble shutting down and rebooting my computer after upgrading from a 1080ti to a 5070ti. I used to run the repo drivers, now i’m running the drivers from the Nvidia website.

After shutting down (sudo shutdown) it will hang in the last stage, no video output, audio, or tty. Board leds will remain on and fans will remain active indefinitely. I have to hold the shutdown button for some time to get it to completely shut off. This is the same for reboot.

If I remove the Nvidia drivers (nvidia-uninstall) I wont be able to get into X of course but shutdown/reboot will work correctly again. This makes me think it’s the drivers that are at fault

I’m running Nvidia driver version 570.144 on Devian 12 6.1.135-1 and kernel version 6.1.0-34-amd64.
I had this issue with all driver versions I have used since upgrading. When running the install script for the drivers I had to choose the MIT variant, the proprietary variant would not continue to X.

Anyway here is my nvidia-bug-report:
