Some question about C-PHY and D-PHY:

1.We can already make GMSL camera work on Thor with D-PHY,I want to use C-PHY, do I need to modify hardware, or just change software setting?

2.about upper diagrram, can I take the aggregator as MAX96712? I see one aggregator only connect 4 camera, is that because the MIPI VC limitation?
I find the MAX96712 support extern VC mode which can support 4-bit VC-id,Does Thor support that?

Both hardware and software need to change for switching from D-PHY to C-PHY. Refer to the signal mapping in chapter 10 of the Jetson Thor Series Modules Interface Design Guide.

What is the source of the diagram? The diagram looks generic so it is not specific to the quad GMSL2 to CSI MAX96712. The Jetson Thor Series Modules Data Sheet mentions these features of the CSI block in regard to Virtual Channels:

  • Includes six-pixel parsers (PP)
  • Supports up to 16 virtual channels per active PP
