SPI: Use custom CS

Hello,

I have 2 CS on spi@3210000. They are all on main GPIO controller pin. (H6, Q5). The device-tree and drivers are working on Jetson Xavier.

When I use spidev to test, the MOSI, SCK are ok but the CS is not moving.

sudo ./spidev_test -D /dev/spidev0.0 -b 8 --cpha --cpol -v

I add log in the kernel and they are both gpiod_set_consumer_name in line 2611 of file drivers/spi/spi.c

If I remove cs-gpios from the device tree, I can toggle both gpios with /sys/class/gpio. If I let cs-gpios in the device-tree, I have: bash: echo: write error: Device or resource busy.


I saw in another post that cs-gpios is not the same as old Jetson:

(i.e. you can receive the data what you sent)

It’s a custom carrier board. But I can see H.06 toggling with the oscilloscope.

I don’t test this. I connect oscilloscope probe on MOSI/MISO/SCK/CS and I can see MOSI and SCK toggling.

It’s a camera sensor. But the sensor is not connected to isolate problems causes. My problem here is that the CS is not pulled down during transfers.

The CS pin for spi@3210000 is PZ.06 and PZ.07. Why you say PH.06 and PQ.05 here?

The result is as expected, it means pinmux configuration for SPI1 is fine.

It seems you could not receive the data, your SPI loopback test is failed…

It’s my question, I want to use other GPIO for CS. It was possible on Jetson Xavier, TX2 and Nano.

Yes it’s not in the pinmux, I want to use custom GPIO. In the future, I had to use 4 CS for only one SPI. It’s possible according to the reference manual.

What is that platform and Jetpack release you verified before?

Yes, it’s working on Jetson Nano with Jetpack 4.6 and L4T R32.6.1

Yes with /sys/class/gpio

It’s exactly this.

Please make sure which dtb you are using first.
You may refer to the flash log to know which device tree is using to flash.

And please help to check if the following two lines have been removed in device tree of gpio.
In my case: tegra234-mb1-bct-gpio-p3767-dp-a03.dtsi

I remove the two lines from my gpio default file but it’s still not working.

It’s well our pinmux generated file that is used:

copying pinmux_config(/home/altaneos/nvidia/nvidia_sdk/JetPack_5.1.1_Linux_JETSON_ORIN_NX_TARGETS/Linux_for_Tegra/bootloader/t186ref/BCT/Orin-client-model-pinmux.dtsi)... done.

GPIO is included in this file.
